Law enforcement is urging drivers to buckle up this Memorial Day weekend

Law enforcement is urging drivers to buckle up this Memorial Day weekend, coinciding with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s national “Click It or Ticket” campaign. The campaign runs from May 22nd to June 4th. Local and state law enforcement will be partnering up for the campaign, which will hold a major focus on nighttime enforcement. In 2021, 11,813 unbuckled passenger-vehicle occupants were killed in crashes in the United States. In that same year, 57% of passenger vehicle occupants killed at night were not wearing their seatbelts. Law enforcement will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt enforcement, day and night.
