Laclede Electric Cooperative has issued a Peak Alert. Cooperative members are asked to conserve electricity today, and Friday, June 17, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Members can help conserve energy by:
Raising the thermostat a few degrees, limiting the use of large appliances, and turning off unnecessary lights

Associated Electric Cooperative notified member systems on June 14 that energy supplies may be tight on June 16 and 17. Associated Electric is the power supplier for six regional transmission cooperatives and 51 distribution cooperatives, including Laclede Electric Cooperative.

An unseasonably hot weather pattern triggered the conservation appeal, unplanned outages at three Associated generating units, and projected declining wind power for Thursday and Friday. Please remember to keep safety first. Conserving energy now could save you money on electric costs in the future.
