Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap says that truth in sentencing is a priority of Missouri Sheriff’s as people are getting released from prison early and then breaking the law again. Such was the case over the weekend, when a man who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2018 but was paroled back into the community in 2022

Sheriff Millsap said some of these are violent crimes…

Sheriff Millsap said, “this is not an isolated incident this is a pattern of people released from prison, that need to be locked up. It defies logic that you can be sentenced by a judge to 16-years, and be out in less than four years. No accountability by the offender and no accountability by DOC in allowing this to happen. ”
