Nolan Arenado homered in his fourth consecutive game to lead the Cardinals to a 5-2 victory over the Pirates in St. Louis. Arenado’s first inning two-run shot marked his 30th RBI this season. Tommy Edman also had two RBI, while Edmundo Sosa drove in his first run of the season. John Gant tossed five-and-a-third innings of two-run ball to earn the win and turn the fortunes after the 3-game sweep incurred at San Diego.
