The Cardinals bullpen gave up seven runs in a loss at Dodger Stadium. Jack Flaherty struck out nine and gave up two runs over five frames for St. Louis before being pulled early with left side tightness.

Adalberto Mondesi smacked a two-run homer as Kansas City took the series opener against the Pirates.. Kelvin Gutierrez also had two RBI for KC, which has won three-of-four. Mike Minor earned the win after tossing six innings of two-run ball.

Bryan Reynolds blasted a two-run homer for the Pirates, who have dropped eight of their last 10. Chad Kuhl suffered his second loss after tossing four innings and giving up three runs…The two teams meet again tonight at 7:10..
