In the opener, Yadier Molina, Tyler O’Neill, Lane Thomas, Paul Goldschmidt and Rangel Ravelo all homered as the Cardinals won 12-2. Jeimer Candelario went deep for Detroit.

In the nightcap, the Tigers scored five times in the top of the seventh to rally for a 6-3 win. Candelario and Jorge Bonifacio both homered for Detroit. Tommy Edman homered for St. Louis, which led 3-0 in the fifth. Jose Cisnero got the win, while Giovanny Gallegos took the loss. The Cards host Cincinnati tonight at Busch Stadium with first pitch at 7:15…..

ROYALS 11 CLEVELAND 1

Rookie Brady Singer came within four outs of a no-hitter as the Royals rolled the Indians 11-1 in Cleveland. Austin Hedges broke up the bid with a two-out roller through the infield in the eighth inning. Singer struck out eight while allowing just the one hit and two walks in eight innings.

 

Edward Olivares, Maikel Franco and Adalberto Mondesi homered for KC. Adam Civale took the loss. Mike Freeman broke up the shutout for Cleveland with an RBI single in the ninth off Matt Harvey. The Indians lost the final three games of the four-game series. The Royals host the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at 7:05..

The defending Super Bowl champs are off to a good start in 2020. Patrick Mahomes threw touchdown passes to three different receivers as the Chiefs opened the season with a 34-20 win over the Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

 

Clyde Edwards-Helaire added 138 yards and a touchdown on the ground for Kansas City. David Johnson’s 19-yard TD run in the first quarter put Houston ahead 7-0 before the Chiefs reeled off the game’s next 31 points. Deshaun Watson threw for 253 yards, a touchdown, an interception and was sacked four times in defeat.
Kansas City will hit the road to L.A. next Sunday to meet the Chargers..
