(Fort Leonard Wood)–The Fort Leonard Wood Natural Resources Branch has announced that this year’s Kid’s Trout Fishing Derby will be held February 29th at the Stone Mill Spring Recreation Area. From 10 a-m to 1 p-m that day, participants, ages 15 and younger, will be able to fish for free. Stone Mill Spring will be stocked with more than 1-thousand rainbow trout, including specially marked trout that young anglers can turn in for prizes. The event will be free and no pre-registration is required. Children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adults will not be allowed to fish but can assist young anglers with fishing tips, help bait hooks, and cast. Participants must bring their own fishing poles, tackle, and bait.
Parking will be allowed along the shoulders of Route 26 toward Piney Valley Golf Course.
