Kids Catfish Derby Coming Up this Weekend

Kids are going to be dropping a line in the pond this weekend. The annual Fort Leonard Wood kids Catfish Derby will be taking place this Saturday June 10th at the pond at training area 228 just off Fort Leonard Wood 38. The event will kickoff at 9 a.m. and go until noon. The event will be aimed at kids fifteen and younger. Registration opens up at 8:30 a.m. and the event is free to the public. Kids are advised to bring their own fishing gear. Nia Dickinson with the Fort Leonard Wood Marketing Department says that kids should be accompanied by an adult.
There will be certain Catfish with tags, and the kids will want to reel those in to win a prize.
Dickinson said the event will be on as long as there is not a monsoon of rain
If you are over the age of fifteen you can still fish, but you will need a fisherman license. The kids can also fish after the events over, but most the prizes will be gone.
