Kickoff of Distracted Driving Month and Work Zone Awareness Week

The Missouri Department of Transportation, Missouri State Highway Patrol, AAA, and other safety advocates are celebrating the kickoff of Distracted Driving Month and Work Zone Awareness Week at the Missouri State Capitol today. Speakers at the event will outline the recently enacted Siddens-Bening Hands-Free Law in Missouri, its impact on highway safety, and the continued need to focus on protecting highway workers and the traveling public. Among the speakers, will be Brian Rickmann, a MoDOT employee who has had several close calls while working in work zones. The kickoff event will take place from 11 to 11:45 today in the First Floor Rotunda in the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.
