(Jefferson City)–For the first time since the Missouri Broadcasters Association started giving out awards 50 years ago, the organization has canceled its annual convention and awards banquet that was set for June 5th and 6th at Lake of the Ozarks due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The competition for the annual MBA awards reached a record of 933 entries in 29 categories. KFBD, 97.9 F-M, the Source, took Second Place for our entry in the Partners in Education category, which was open to all stations in small, medium, and large markets.
Our entry featured a compilation of comments recorded this past year by educational leaders in the area that encouraged listener awareness of the local public and private educational topics. Last year, KFBD won the first place award for small market radio in the Documentary-Public Affairs category.
