BLUES

Vladimir Tarasenko scored two goals and Ville Husso recorded his second career shutout as the St. Louis Blues remained undefeated in five games with a 2-0 victory Monday night over the Los Angeles Kings.

The Blues are off to a 5-0 start for the first time in franchise history. The Kings haven’t won since their season opener.

”You can’t get complacent in this league and you’ve got to keep your foot on the gas pedal at all times,” Blues coach Craig Berube said. ”You’ve got to keep your head at an even keel. You never can get too high or too low in this league.”

It was Tarasenko’s first multi-goal game since Feb. 14, 2019.

The St. Louis Cardinals hired Oliver Marmol as the team’s next manager, AND INTRODUCED MARMOL YESTERDAY AT A VIRTUAL NEWS CONFERENCE….MARMOL becomes the youngest manager in MLB and takes over after the club surprisingly fired Mike Shildt earlier this month…OLI, AS HE’S KNOWN, WAS A BENCH COACH UNDER SHILDT FOR 2 YEARS AND WILL USE WHAT HE LEARNED FROM SHILDT INTO HIS NEW POSITION..

Marmol is also the youngest Cardinals manager since Marty Marion, who managed the 1951 team at age 34.
OLI MARMOL SAID HE’S HUMBLED TO GET THE OPPERTUNITY HE’S BEEN GIVEN.

Marmol has been a part of the team’s MLB staff since 2017.

###
He’s a former Cardinals draftee and minor leaguer who also served as a hitting coach in the minors. Marmol also boasts managerial experience at the minor-league level, as he guided Johnson City and Palm Beach within the Cardinals’ system. Across five seasons as a Cardinals minor-league manager, Marmol compiled a record of 268-225 (.544) with four postseason appearances.
MARMOL WAS ASKED WHEN HE KNEW HE WANTED TO COACH, RATHER THAN PLAY…ANOTHER FORMER CARDINAL MANAGER MAY HAVE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT…..

The New Orleans Saints moved to 4-2 on the season after defeating the Seattle Seahawks on the road 13-10. After Jameis Winston was able to lead the Saints’ offense on a 42-yard drive that resulted in the go-ahead field goal late in the fourth quarter, Geno Smith and the Seahawks were unable to march down the field to — at the very least — force overtime. On that final drive of the game for Seattle, the Saints were able to sack Smith twice to truly ice the contest and pull away with the win.
