The second step toward the new era of the College Football Playoff took place on Friday when the CFP Management Committee announced that it has reviewed the proposed format of the 12-team playoff as recommended by the working group last week. The new format would expand the postseason from the current four-team version which went into effect following the 2014 season. The next step in the process will come on June 22 in Dallas when members of the management committee will meet with the Board of Managers.
The new format would include the top six conference champions in the CFP Rankings regardless of conference affiliation. The final six teams will be the next six teams in the rankings no matter their conference affiliation. The top four conference champions would receive a first-round bye, with teams ranked Nos. 5-8 hosting the last four teams in the first round. The winners of the first round would then advance to play the top-ranked teams in the playoff without being re-seeded. The quarterfinals, semifinals and College Football Playoff National Championship would be played at neutral sites that are yet to be announced.

IN THE NBA…..
While the story entering the western conference finals in the nba game may have been focused on the players who were unavailable, Chris Paul and Kawhi Leonard, the story coming out of Game 1 will be the back and forth battle between Devin Booker and Paul George as the two went at it all day long in the Suns’ 120-114 victory.

Booker finished the win with the Suns’ first playoff triple-double since Steve Nash accomplished the feat in 2005. The All-Star guard was masterful on the offensive end recording 40 points to go along with 13 rebounds and 11 assists as he seemingly made the right play whenever Phoenix needed it. On the other side, George led the charge for the Clippers finishing the game with 34 points, five assists and four rebounds but, in the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome Booker and the rest of the Suns.

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 103-96 on Sunday to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2015. The Game 7 loss sent the No. 1 seed home early after one of the most bitterly disappointing series losses in recent memory. The 76ers blew enormous leads in Games 4 and 5, and now, they’ve blown the series as well.
