(Jefferson City)–The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 5 traffic fatalities took place over the July 4th holiday counting period. There were no boating fatalities over the same period and one drowning. Troopers worked 294 traffic crashes, which included 107 injuries. Troopers also made 139 D-W-I arrests and 126 drug arrests over the holiday period.
The 2020 July Fourth holiday counting period began at 6 p-m Thursday, July 2nd, and ended at 11:59 p-m Sunday, July 5th.
During last year’s July 4th holiday counting period, 15 people were killed with 457 injuries from 1,109 traffic crashes.
