Naomi Johnson of Lebanon, along with her attorney, Chris Allen, appeared in Laclede County Associate Circuit Court Tuesday and waived her right to a preliminary hearing. Johnson who is charged with involuntary manslaughter involving the death of 1-year-old Kimber McDowell in June of 2020. According to court documents, Johnson was babysitting McDowell and other children in her home and had placed the child down for a nap, swaddling the one year in a blanket and leaving her on the bed for at least two hours. Johnson later found the baby facedown and not breathing. The case will proceed to trial more quickly by waiving the preliminary hearing. The case is now scheduled for arraignment in the Circuit Court, that date and Judge have yet to be determined.
