The Joel E. Barber C5 Board of Education voted at Thursday night’s meeting to add three make up days to this year’s school calendar, classes have been dismissed for eight and a half days this school year due to inclement weather and Barber Superintendent Rachelle Jennings says it’s best for the kids:

Makeup dates will be February 28th, March 13th, and April 3rd. The board voted to partner with area schools and join the Virtual Learning Program, Launch. The launch was initiated as a virtual learning tool in the Springfield school district and has grown throughout Southwest Missouri and includes the Lebanon R3 and Conway school districts. Jennings says this is a state-mandated program:

The board approved summer school dates of June 1st through June 25th, Monday through Thursday, and also approved the 2020-21 School Calendar. School will start on August 24 and run through May 27th. The school will continue with the 4 day school week, with Fridays being used for learning enrichment for students and professional development for teachers.
