Is your lawn considered a public nuisance?
Waynesville residents are being asked to monitor the length of the grass on their lawns and ensure that they follow city codes. Municipal Code 210.075 is the city’s abatement of public nuisance code. It contains information and definitions for what could be considered a “public nuisance.” That includes, among many other things, the length of the grass in one’s lawn. Mayor Sean Wilson says the city has received several calls regarding this code, mostly from neighbors concerned about grass length. He explained the process that the city uses for enforcement of the code.
Wilson says the city is currently cutting 45 lawns. That, in turn, takes up the time of the Parks Department. The full code, including more examples of what qualifies as a public nuisance, can be found on the City of Waynesville website.
