Inmate found dead in his cell at Laclede County jail
Laclede County Sheriff, David Millsap has asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control to investigate the in-custody death of an inmate at the jail facility. 22-year old William J. Binns was found dead in his cell at 4:15 p.m. Monday, by a Detention Officer. Binns died from an apparent suicide by hanging. Binns was the lone occupant in his cell and had contacted a member of the detention staff on the intercom at 3:45 p.m. Binns had asked the staff member what time it was. Binns had been moved to a solitary cell assignment earlier in the day after he started a physical altercation with another inmate. Binns was in custody for an assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest and had been in custody since March 2nd of this year.
