Initial Approval Given To State Budget Proposal

After about eight hours of debate, the Missouri House of Representatives has given initial approval to a 46-billion-dollar state budget proposal. Some key items include 3.6-billion-dollars in state aid to K-12 public schools, 78-million to boost rates to childcare providers, and 56-million for pre-K programs. Democrat Deb Lavender unsuccessfully attempted to increase pay for providers who care for people with disabilities.

The plan does not include funding to expand I-70 to six total lanes. One more vote of support will send the fiscal plan to the Senate for additional work.
