Influenza activity continues to increase across Missouri

The Missouri Department of Health reports that Influenza activity continues to increase across Missouri. The estimated influenza activity in Missouri is now widespread, and the overall Influenza-like illness activity has increased to the moderate category. According to the latest numbers, during the week of November 12th, a total of 2,720 laboratory-positive influenza cases were reported in Missouri. The key to keeping the influenza numbers down is prevention. Nurse Kim Smith is with the Laclede County Health Department.

Those who have not been vaccinated against the flu are encouraged to do so. To date more than 74-hundred people have been diagnosed with influenza in Missouri and two people have died from complications related to the flu.
