Improvements to the Gasconade River bridge on Route 42 in Maries County are beginning this week. Contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation began repairing the deck of the bridge, located east of Vienna, Monday. One lane of Route 42 will be closed at the bridge during the duration of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in late June.
West Plains Bridge and Grading were awarded a contract earlier this year to rehabilitate the bridge. The contract also includes the rehabilitation of the Route 100 bridge over the Gasconade River in Gasconade County, the replacement of the bridge deck on Route 89 bridge over the Gasconade River in Osage County, and the replacement of the bridge deck on the Route 89 bridge over Swan Creek. All four bridges are included in Governor Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
