Importance Of Lebanon Area Foundation To Laclede Literacy Council

The Laclede Literacy Council performas several vital functions in Laclede County. Whether it’s helping adults learn to read, teaching workplace skills, or teaching English as a second language, many residents rely on Laclede Literacy Council to help them better their lives. None of that work would be possible though without the assistance of the Lebanon Area Foundation and their Community Cares Grants. Laclede Literacy Council Director, Dr. Carol Barsby, says it takes all of the non-profits working together to make a difference in the lives of Laclede County residents…………

Dr. Barsby says the ability to assist comes down to Maslow’s heirarchy of needs. If psychological or safety needs arent’ being met, it’s impossible to reach self-actualization………..

The Lebanon Area Foundation and Community Cares will be holding one of their largest fundraisers of the year on Thursday, September 14th. The annual Community Cares KJEL Radiothon will be taking place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m in front of the Cowan Civic Center. All money raised that day helps provide grants for non-profit agencies that serve Laclede County residents. Dr. Barsby and L-A-F Director Melinda Fries encourage everyone to come out, show your support for those local agencies, and make this year a record-breaking year for Community Cares.
