A woman who was wanted for not following a court order was arrested in Texas County. On Tuesday evening a Texas County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling E Highway initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation. During the stop, 49-year-old Sharon Barton of Houston gave the deputy a fake name. Further investigation revealed the woman’s correct name, a records check indicated that Barton had arrest warrants from Texas County. Barton was taken into custody on the warrants, and during the booking process at the jail, it was discovered that Barton had methamphetamine concealed on her person. She was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail. Barton was held on felony arrest warrants charging her with probation violation, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance. Paperwork has been submitted to the Prosecutors office for additional charges.
