A federal moratorium on evictions has ended which will affect numerous households and as unemployment subsidies expire, many Missourians may find themselves in a housing crisis. Cutbacks at manufacturers mean some people have been permanently laid off from their jobs, and already some individuals in Laclede County are seeking help to pay their rent and utilities. Lebanon Crosslines Director Viola Blankenship said they have received a number of requests for help

Not everyone is eligible to collect the maximum unemployment insurance, and Blankenship said she doesn’t think the housing situation is going to get better….

 

Many nonprofits fear that there may be a spike in the number of homeless families, and people need to be prepared.
