Disaster struck foreign soil late Sunday night but support is coming from right here in the Ozarks. Several earthquakes measuring up to 7.8 on the Richter scale hit the border of Turkey and Syria. The Springfield-based non-profit Convoy of Hope sprung to action. National Spokesperson for Convoy of Hope Ethan Forhetz relays what many of the citizens and volunteers are witnessing.

While long-term rebuilding is the ultimate goal, Forhetz says the main focus right now is providing the essentials.

As of Monday afternoon, almost 4-thousand people have died as a result of those earthquakes, plus thousands more were seriously injured. To donate or find more information on Convoy of Hope and its disaster response, visit Convoy-of-hope-dot-org
