The Missouri Pork Association, Missouri Farmers Care, and their supporters hope their newest partnership will solve two of the problems that have arisen from the coronavirus pandemic. Diane Slater, communications director with Missouri Pork, says pork producers are feeling the squeeze from meatpacking plants slowing down or going offline as thousands of Covid-19 cases emerge from those facilities.

Slater says through the generosity of Missouri Farmers Care and its supporters, smaller processors are being encouraged to handle backlogged hogs and donate the meals to families in need.

The meals will go from processors to the state’s six food banks for distribution. Farmers and processors who are able to help can contact the Missouri Pork Association at 573-445-8375.
