Highway Patrol Christmas Holiday Traffic Crash Incidents Were Way Down This Year

There is incredibly great news from the Missouri Highway Patrol about the 78 hour Christmas traffic crash counting period, which ended at midnight Monday night.
Troopers investigated only 124 traffic crashes statewide with 71 injuries, and only 2 traffic crash fatalities.  This compares to 306 traffic crashes in 2022 which included three fatalities and 84 injuries.  Additional traffic crashes investigated by county and city law enforcement will be added later.  When all the traffic crashes were added together last year, there were 1,017 traffic crashes recorded statewide over the Christmas counting period in 2022.  In those crashes, four people were killed and another 318 were injured.
This year, 81 driving while intoxicated citations were issued by the patrol during the 78-hour counting period.
