The Missouri Legislators have passed a tax increase for fuel to help fund major highway projects. The State of Missouri is 7th in the country, with the highest amount of roads and bridges that a state maintains. MoDOT Area Engineer Bob Lynch says the cost is high to maintain highways in the state:

Lynch says the gas tax will support MODOT’s new projects as well as fix roads, not just patch them:

 

 

Lynch says since the pandemic, the tax collected from fuel sales has been down, and currently, the highways show with lack of maintenance and repairs.
