It’s going to take deeper pockets to dig into this Fourth of July holiday. Besides the high price of gasoline, that Independence Day cookout will cost you 17 percent more on average than it did a year ago. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, feeding ten people on the fourth will cost on average nearly $70 this year.
The biggest increases come from beef products with two pounds of beef costing as much as 36 percent more than last year.
In contrast, the price of potato chips, cheese, and strawberries is actually lower than last year.
