Mrs. Helga Lutes, 84 of Waynesville, Missouri, passed away on June 6, 2024 in Emmett, Idaho. She had a strong faith in God which was witnessed by all that knew her.

Helga was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Robert and Maria Lott on April 23, 1940. She completed her schooling in Germany. She married Gary Dale Lutes on March 1, 1961 in Frankfurt, Germany. She worked as a seamstress for many years. She was a veteran’s widow and played a large part in working in the program that supports widows in the area. She spent endless hours helping widowed friends in the area by providing transportation to appointments and many other supports. Helga was involved in Survivors Outreach group at Fort Leonard Wood. She built many friendships through this organization. She mentored many young people that grew to love her like a mother. Many of them call her mom to this day.

Helga was preceded in death by her husband Capt. Gary Dale Lutes.

Helga is survived by three children: Charles Lutes and wife Irene of Hampton, VA, Walter “Udo” Lutes and wife Annette of Emmett, ID, and Michael Lutes and wife Melanie of the State of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous others who called her mom, along with other relatives and friends.

The family of Helga wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the care staff at Meadow View Assisted Living Center for their loving care, Light House Hospice for bringing her comfort in the end, Faith Baptist Church and St. Robert First Assembly for their spiritual care, Travist Patrick and Christina Vijil (for caring for her lawn while she was in Idaho).
