(Fort Leonard Wood)–Ground will be broken this afternoon for the new General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital on the military installation at Fort Leonard Wood. The ceremony will take place at two o’clock and can be followed virtually at https://www.facebook.com/fortleonardwoodmissouri/. Major construction on Fort Leonard Wood’s replacement hospital is set to begin this summer, with an expected occupancy of the new facility in autumn 2024. The construction of the hospital campus is expected to be completed in autumn 2024. The existing hospital will then be demolished. In August 2019, the $295 million design-build contracts were awarded to Kansas City, Missouri based firm J.E. Dunn Construction with RLF Architects of Orlando, Florida — minor supporting construction has already been completed, including site and utility surveys.
