At least 51-percent of Missouri lacks access to a daycare provider. Through May 31, the Missouri Office of Childhood is offering startup grants and grants to help existing childcare sites expand. Pam Thomas, with the Missouri Office of Childhood, says the funding is intended to increase access to daycare programs in partnership with a business or community organization.

The amount of state aid varies. If awarded, the provider must become a licensed program with children enrolled and attending by the end of March 2024.
