On Friday, January 21, Governor Parson will travel to Urbana to attend an assembly celebrating Skyline Middle School, in the Hickory Co. R-I School District’s designation as a 2021 National Blue Ribbon and Missouri Gold Star School. Parson is a Hickory County native.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced eight Missouri Gold Star Schools last year. The program, which aligns with the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, recognizes schools for outstanding academic achievement or performing at high levels while serving a significant proportion of disadvantaged students. Mansfield Junior High School was also a recipient of the Gold Star designation. The Missouri Gold Star Schools program was established in 1991.
