Governor Parson has had enough. He has given the Missouri Legislature a deadline of noon Tuesday to agree on a healthcare tax proposal that helps to fund Missouri’s Medicaid program. Lawmakers failed to pass the routine tax proposal during the regular session because some conservative members want to ban Medicaid coverage of certain forms of birth control. During a Capitol press conference, Parson says some lawmakers who want to move the goal post again would have devastating effects if the tax is not extended.

If an agreement is not found, Parson says he will freeze funding in the next state budget for education, foster care, and adoption services, as well as care for the elderly and developmental disabled.
