Missouri’s first-ever black bear hunting season begins in less than three weeks. Jefferson County resident and outdoor enthusiast Nelson Scherrer is one of only 400 hunters selected in the entire state. He says he’s excited to be part of the new seasonal hunt.

The state is only allowing 40 black bears to be killed statewide. The season runs from October 18th through the 27th.
