In April Governor Mike Parson announced a change to income guidelines for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program. The program provides energy assistance payments based on income. Donna Owen with Missouri Ozarks Community Action tells us the new income limits have increased from 135% of the federal poverty level to 60 percent of the state median income until the end of May. Those approved will receive an initial assistance payment of $200…..

Owen said that those who need assistance should apply for maximum benefits now. She another way that a person can get help on energy cost is through the Weatherization program. To find out about the programs available contact MOCA at 573-765-3263.
