Gerald “Jerry” Newton Wilson (Camdenton)
Corporal Gerald “Jerry” Newton Wilson, son of Bennie and Mary (Eidson) Wilson, was born December 18, 1930 in Camden County, Missouri. He was presumed Missing in Action on July 25, 1950 in Yongdong, Republic of Korea during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents John Riley and Edna Moulder Eidson; as well as a host of other relatives.
Jerry grew up in Macks Creek, Missouri and attended Macks Creek High School. In August of 1948, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served his Country. He lost his life fighting for the freedom of others in the Defense of Yongdong. Many decades passed and his family longed for him to be returned to them. Finally, in 2018, Jerry was positively identified through many tireless efforts of the United States Army and with the help of his remaining family.
Jerry was of the Baptist Faith.
Jerry loved to dance and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. The letters he wrote from various locations throughout the world during his deployment solidified his longing to return home and be with those who loved and cared for him.
Jerry was a loving son and brother. His faithfulness to his country and those in need of help were evident in his service to his country. He was truly an American Hero and at last he will be laid to rest by his family.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in Parrack Grove Cemetery, Macks Creek, Missouri.
