General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital will be offering the children’s Pfizer Covid vaccine to dependent children
The General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood will be offering the children’s Pfizer Covid vaccine to dependent children who are Tricare beneficiaries, ages 5-11, in the hospital’s immunization clinic on November 20th. The follow-up appointment will be for December 11th for the second dose. Appointments can be made by calling the appointment line at 1-866-299-4234. Appointment times November 20th and December 11th will be from 8 o’clock in the morning to noon. Hospital authorities say that for added safety and monitoring, they will wait for a minimum of 72 hours between giving the children’s COVID-19 vaccine and scheduling appointments for any other vaccines for ages 5-through-11 years old. The Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine for children ages 5-11 years old has been found to be up to 91% effective at preventing symptomatic disease and had minimal side effects with the most common being sore arm, with the other side effects being mild, self-limiting, and similar to other vaccines given to children.
