Friday starts the 4 day Labor Day traffic count-down
This Friday will begin the four-day Labor Day weekend, a time for enjoying the outdoors for many families. The 2021 traffic accident counting period for the Labor Day holiday will be from 6 p-m this Friday through 11:59 p. m. on Monday, September 7th. The highway patrol will be participating in Operation Care over the Labor Day weekend. All available troopers will be patrolling Missouri’s roadways and waterways. Troopers will be out on the roadways will be enforcing Missouri’s speed limit, seat belt, and impaired driving laws, in addition to being available to assist motorists. And marine enforcement troopers will be working to make the state’s waterways safer during the holiday weekend. Last year during the Labor Day holiday weekend, 18 people died on the highways and 463 were injured in 1,041 traffic crashes. Troopers arrested 146 people for driving while intoxicated during last year’s holiday weekend.
