(Fort Leonard Wood)–Fort Leonard Wood is abandoning its policy of giving one taxi company an exclusive agreement to provide taxi service on the installation. A new, non-exclusive agreement will soon open taxi service to competition from anyone possessing a valid driver’s license from the state of Missouri. This will open the door to various taxi companies, ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft, airport shuttles, and individuals providing transportation on post. Currently, Post Cab Company is the only cab company that can pick up passengers on post, although other cab companies can pick up passengers off post and bring them onto the installation. Applications for the new permit will be accepted starting December 9th, and permits will be in effect starting January 1st. Applicants will have two options when paying for their permit–a monthly fee of $150 or an annual fee of one-thousand dollars per vehicle. Payment can be made by check, payable to I-M-W-R-F, or credit card at the time of acceptance of their application. Just as before, the new permit is solely for the vehicle. All drivers must be vetted through regular post entrance security procedures, with F-M-W-R as the sponsor.

Drivers must possess a valid license from the state of Missouri to operate as a motor carrier for the classes and types of services authorized on Fort Leonard Wood. For more information on the new permits, call 573-596-0118.
