(Fort Leonard Wood)–Fort Leonard Wood is joining in the commemoration today of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War 2 in the European Theater. The surrender was commemorated with a holiday–Victory in Europe Day, or V-E Day.
Fellow Missourian, President Harry Truman, told the nation, “If I could give you a single watchword for the coming months, that word is work, work, and more work. Our victory is half over.”co-incidentally, Today is Truman’s Birthday observation, and a State holiday in Missouri.
Current Fort Leonard Wood leadership has issued a statement thanking the veterans, civilians, and families who laid down their lives and sacrificed their wants and needs in exchange for a better future for the nation.
