Fort Wood General Allows Delayed Reporting For First Day of School
Fort Leonard Wood Commanding General, Major General James Bonner, has released a statement encouraging Back-to-School safety this month.
“As we prepare for the school year,” he says, “keep health protection at the forefront of your minds, and be safe. If you travel locally or outside the area for back to school shopping, manage risk; properly prepare your equipment and yourselves while also adhering to speed limit and safety belt laws. In all you do, adhere to COVID-19 ordinances, general orders, policies and guidelines that apply to you and your area.”
The General has authorized delayed reporting for all employees: military and Department of Defense civilian — up to 59 minutes for civilians — on August 23rd, the first day of school for the Waynesville school district. All employees can work with supervisors to adjust dates if needed. For resources or questions about support for your family’s educational needs, please contact our School Support Services office in Bldg. 470. The team has the skills and willingness to set your children and your family up for success.
Bonner notes, “For the past 18 months, students, parents, educators, staff, administrators and school boards have risen to every challenge in the COVID environment. We are extremely proud and appreciative of their agility and we wish them the very best as they embark on the upcoming year.”
