Fort Wood Drill Sergeant of the Year Announced by Post Officials
The winners were announced Friday of Fort Leonard Wood’s Drill Sergeant of the Year competition earlier this week. The winner of this grueling and challenging contest was Sergeant First Class John Marquis of the 795th Military Police Battalion. As such, Marquis will go on to represent the post at the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command level.
Taking place at the same time was the Best Squad Competition between squad teams of five soldiers. The winning team was the First Engineer Brigade’s squad. The soldiers representing the First Engineer Brigade were Sergeant First Class Oscar Olivo, Sergeant Matthew Detmer, Specialist Zion Beaver, Specialist Collin Stageman, and Specialist Sean Brown. Olivo was awarded the title of Non-commissioned Officer of the Year and Brown earned the title of Enlisted Soldier of the Year.
