Fort Leonard Wood is hosting a slate of activities to raise awareness and educate on the prevention of sexual violence
Fort Leonard Wood is hosting a slate of activities to raise awareness and educate on the prevention of sexual violence in observance of April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Change through unity. Empower. Protect. Prevent.” Each Wednesday throughout the month, a member of Fort Leonard Wood’s Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention team will staff an awareness both at the Exchange. Additionally, the community will have the chance to participate in what’s called “Chalk the Walk,” with the goal being to spread positivity and joy through chalk messages. In addition to these, other events are being held throughout the month. For additional information regarding sexual harassment and assault, and types and reporting options, please visit the Fort Leonard Wood SHARP website. For 24/7 immediate and anonymous crisis support, use the Fort Leonard Wood Helpline at 573-855-1327. The Department of Defense Safe Helpline is also available 24/7 at 1-877-995-5247.
