25th Circuit Judge John Beger found former Texas County Sheriff James Sigman and his deputy Jennifer Tomaszewski guilty of forgery.

The pair faced multiple felony and misdemeanor charges ranging from endangering the welfare of a child to fraud to unlawful use of a weapon; however, the judge acquitted the couple on those charges earlier this week, saying the state provided insufficient evidence.

Authorities said Sigman hired Lt. Tomaszewski as a jailer in December of 2016, and then Sigman promoted her as a jail administrator on July 12, 2017. It was claimed that the two had been romantically linked since her first hiring date.

Investigators say Tomaszewski’s child was exposed to sexual predators and other violent offenders while staying at the jail with Tomaszewski.

The judge set sentencing for October 22. The trial was moved to Waynesville in Pulaski County on a change of venue from Texas County.
