Former Miller County Sheriff William “Bill” Abbott died Monday due to complications with COVID-19.
Abbott served in the National Guard for 22 years. As a sergeant, he deployed on tours in Honduras, Panama, Japan, and two tours in Germany.

He was elected Miller County Sheriff, and he held that title for 16 years before retiring in 2016.

Visitation is planned for Friday, and a funeral with full military honors will be held on Saturday.

Abbott was 64 years old.
