Former Lebanon Educator Explains Mexico District Departure

The Mexico School District announced Dr. Tammy Lupardus’ retirement last week after the board placed the superintendent on administrative leave last month. Lupardus served less than one year as Mexico’s superintendent and was a former special education administrator in the Lebanon R-3 district.

Lupardus says the April election accelerated her departure.

Lupardus details what unfolded on May 18th.

Mexico School Board President Todd Yager responds to the former superintendent’s claims.

Mexico named Lupardus’ assistant Melissa Chastain interim superintendent for the next school year. Lupardus says she accepted payment on half of her three-year contract because her retirement takes effect in November of 2022. Yager confirmed Lupardus’ settlement.
