Former Laclede County Car Dealer Ordered To Make Restitution

A closed Lebanon car dealership has been ordered to pay $27,000 to eight drivers to compensate for their losses due to not receiving certificates of titles or promised warranty work. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced the judgment which was reached Tuesday and also convinced a third party to surrender certificates of title for five other drivers. The dealership, called Variety Autos, LLC, was owned by Marcus Hill, who is currently serving time in Laclede County Jail on 13 felony charges of unlawful business practices filed by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. Bailey expressed his commitment to holding those who cheat innocent Missourians accountable and praised the Consumer Protection Unit’s hard work in safeguarding consumers across the state. People who suspect they have fallen victim to a car dealer scam are advised to file a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
