Former Band Director a Hall of Famer
Since 1970 the Missouri Bandmasters Association has selected a high school band director to be inducted into the group’s “Hall of Fame” at their annual summer meeting at Lake of the Ozarks. This year’s honor was awarded to former Lebanon Band Director Keith Ruether.
Ruether, who taught at Steelville and Fulton before coming to Lebanon in 2000, says he became interested in becoming a band director at an early age.
After retiring from his band directors position in 2014, Ruether has very little problem staying busy.
Some of Ruether’s fondest memories come from a music festival in Carthage.
Looking back on a long career, Ruether has few regrets.
Ruether joins another former Lebanon Band Director, Jerry Hoover, inducted into the hall in 2009.
