Flag, Freedom and Appreciation

A special ceremony was held this morning at the Laclede County Government Center to honor the upcoming Independence Day, and to pay tribute to Old Glory, and those who have served to protect the American Flag which hangs at the courthouse. The keynote speaker at the ceremony was Lieutenant Steve Davis with the Missouri State Highway Patrol….

Old Glory which hangs on the front of the courthouse was funded by private individuals and corporate donors, who paid to replace the previous flag that was damaged by vandals who attempted to burn the flag as it hung on the building. Melinda Fries with the Lebanon Area Foundation who administered the fund offered up thanks to all of the donors and announced that any funds that were left over after the flag purchase, are being donated to the Veterans Memorial Fund.
