First day for taxi companies or independent drivers to apply for taxi permits on Ft Wood
(Fort Leonard Wood)–Today is the first day for taxi companies or independent drivers to apply for a taxi permit for 2020 on Fort Leonard Wood. The new, non-exclusive permits will open the post to service from a wide variety of carriers, including multi-national ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft, as well as individuals. Permits will be in effect starting January 1st. Applicants will have two options when paying for their permit–a monthly fee of $150 or an annual fee of one-thousand dollars per vehicle. Payment can be made by check, payable to I-M-W-R-F, or credit card at the time of acceptance of their application. Just as before, the new permit is solely for the vehicle. All drivers must be vetted through regular post entrance security procedures, with F-M-W-R as the sponsor. Drivers must possess a valid license from the state of Missouri to operate as a motor carrier for the classes and types of services authorized on Fort Leonard Wood, including airport shuttles. Applications are being accepted at the M-W-R Warehouse at 2347 Louisiana Avenue on post. For more information on the new permits, call 573-596-0118.
